This is the first Chinese dish I’ve tried making myself, and it certainly won’t be the last! Taken from browngirlvegan on insta.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 thumb sized piece of ginger
- 1 tsp chilli flakes (to taste!)
- 1 cup vegan mince
- 1 tsp ground sichuan pepper
- 1 tbsp broad bean paste
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (to taste)
- 2tsp cornflour (mixed with 1/4 cup cold! water)
- 600g silken tofu
- Salt to taste
- Spring onion
- Rice
Method
- Fry ginger in sesame oil.
- Add chilli flakes and sichuan for another minute.
- Add in mince and cook until mostly done.
- Add broad bean paste.
- Add in water, syrup and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Chop tofu and add.
- Add in cornflour mixture.
- Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Serve with spring onions and rice.
Additional notes
- I ordered my sichuan pepper from Amazon. But it and broad bean paste can be found in Asian shops
